What is The Lincoln Local?

The Lincoln Local is a racehorse ownership syndicate and shared ownership initiative, proudly partnered with Dare to Dream and On Fire Racing. This program gives locals and racegoers the exciting opportunity to own a small share in a racehorse trained right here in the Port Lincoln region.

Designed to make racehorse ownership affordable, inclusive, and community-based, the Lincoln Local allows more people to experience the thrill, pride, and fun of being part of a racing team.

Kristy Oyarzun - The Trainer

Kristy Oyarzun’s passion for racing began at 18 with work experience at Lindsay Park under Colin Hayes and Tony McEvoy. She gained extensive experience with top South Australian trainers, including Leon Macdonald, Phillip Stokes, and Gordon Richards, and achieved early success with Colonel Spicer at Morphettville in 2009.

After settling on the Eyre Peninsula in 2020, Kristy worked with local trainers before taking out her trainer’s licence again in the 2024/25 season. She now trains Spangled Sipper, the official Lincoln Local horse, along with five other horses in her care. Known for her hands-on approach, Kristy treats every horse as an individual, with the belief that: “Happy horses are winning horses.”

On Fire Racing

On Fire Racing is a community of horse racing enthusiasts dedicated to providing the most enjoyable and memorable racing experiences for people of all ages. Their mission is to share the thrill of racing, create lifelong friendships, and make racehorse ownership accessible to everyone.

With horses currently based across South Australia, Queensland, and the Northern Territory, On Fire Racing specialises in social racehorse shares and syndicates, offering a cost-effective way to be involved in owning a quality racehorse.

As the official syndicators of The Lincoln Local, On Fire Racing ensures that shareholders enjoy the full racing experience, from trackwork mornings to race day celebrations. All while being part of a supportive, like-minded community.
